Ground Effects Landscaping was established in the mid-1990s in Cohasset, MA. From humble beginnings, our firm has grown into an Eastern MA mainstay that has served the region for over 20 years. Many of our clients have been partnered with us for a decade or more: trusting us to establish and care for the short- and long-term needs of their outdoor spaces.
We are masters of our trade, delivering proven expertise in landscape design, construction, maintenance and snow removal. Focusing on what we do best and partnering with regional experts for specialties like fencing and landscape lighting, we act as your project manager. You never have to deal with several contractors, because we facilitate each project aspect.

Sean Bishop: Owner & President
As owner and president of Ground Effects Landscaping, Sean has developed a company firmly rooted in higher education and firsthand expertise. He earned a landscape design degree from the University of Rhode Island’s School of Architecture and Horticulture. Combined with over two decades of field experience, Sean’s proven industry experience puts clients at ease as he orchestrates your landscape masterpiece from design to installation.
Luke Hawkins: Maintenance Operations Manager/Sales
Luke has over 15 years of South Shore field experience in landscape maintenance operations, and knows, firsthand, how to deal with the challenges of ocean-impacted landscapes. A MA Licensed Pesticide Applicator and Hydraulics Operator, he oversees the operation of our maintenance division—from mowing to enhancement. Luke is a consummate professional who caters to client needs by listening to their requests and crafting programs to achieve their goals. He understands that continuing education is vital to maintaining his green industry expertise, and spends much of his offseason training and learning the latest landscape techniques to benefit our clients.
John Alves: Maintenance Manager
John has over 20 years' experience in both landscaping and crew management. John manages the complex day to day field operations of the entire maintenance division. He utilizes his broad knowledge of horticulture and turf management to educate and train every member of the Ground Effects team ensuring the highest levels of quality and professionalism.
